Kenema, Sierra Leone – April 21, 2025

In a heartwarming gesture to support local sports, which stems from the Presidential initiative of President Bio's Big Five to implement Youth Employment Schemes through job creation and Human Capital Development, nurturing skills for the 21st-century industry, Information Attaché to the Embassy of the Republic of Sierra Leone in the Russian Federation, Ambassador Festus J. Lahai has generously donated two sets of players' jerseys and a set for match officials to Kambui Eagles football club in Kenema.
According to the Information Attaché, this thoughtful donation aims to boost grassroots sports development in Kenema, his beloved hometown.

Mr. Lahai stated that the donation aligns with President Bio's Big Five agenda, encompassing youth employment. The sports industry accounts for a chunk of youth employment in Sierra Leone, and ejecting support to football was a way of complementing President Bio's dream to create employment for our youth.
The Information Attache, a sports journalist, sees this as an excellent opportunity to uplift the youth and foster community spirit through sports development. The recent donation was part of Festus J. Lahai's ongoing dedication to giving back to the community that shaped him. Early on, he supported the ongoing SLAJ building project in Kenema for speedy completion.
Christain Elongima Vandy, the club’s Publicity Secretary, expressed gratitude for the donation, noting that it is vital as the team faces challenges at the bottom of the league table after the season's first phase. “This gift is incredibly timely, and we really appreciate it,” Vandy shared. “A big thank you to Festus J. Lahai!" We hope this inspires other local supporters to step in and also lend a hand.

The more support we have, the better our chances of turning the season around.” The team is optimistic that the new jerseys will lift their spirits as they gear up for the second phase of the league, hoping to climb out of the relegation zone.
Barrie Van-Nelson Hassan and Abdul Babeto Mansaray symbolically handed over the jerseys on behalf of the Information Attache.
