Independence Greetings from Ambassador Yongawo - Embassy of the Republic of Sierra Leone In Moscow - Russia Federation.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is that time of the year again when we rekindle our hope and trust in the nationhood of Sierra Leone.

The time of the year when we trace back our footprints years gone.

It is the time of the year when rightly or wrongly we question ourselves, why should we be celebrating, and what have we achieved as a nation?

As a nation we’ve come a long way through trouble waters.

We trodded in disbelief in ourselves whether we were equipped to be independent.

We endured turbulent years of one party rule, military regimes have come and gone, we survived a dastardly war, and we welcomed peace and democracy during our tribulations.

Meanwhile, natural and man made adversities have not left our poor souls alone. Ebola and COVID-19 did not spare our weak limbs.

We have clambered many electoral cycles. And we are still trodding on.

We are yet to arrive at our destination, but oh yes, we are limping on with promising signs.

And Salone we all love in her true colours of Green, White and Blue will continue to thrive and outlive all of us.

So, on behalf of myself, staff at the Moscow Mission, Sierra Leoneans in Russia and in all accredited Nations, would like to use this opportunity to pledge our unwavering love and loyalty to the Land that we all love - Salone.

We wish His Excellency Dr Julius Maada Bio, the Government and the people of Sierra Leone and all our friends across the Globe Happy 63rd Independence Day.

Peace and love to everyone.

The Ambassador.

H.E Mohamed Yongawo.
